Odd used No. 1

Hello All, I am completely new to this site but I have a question. I have found a No. 1B used with the laminate stock and stainless receiver but the barrel is a matte blued finish. The barrel says ruger on it so I assume it’s a legit barrel. My question is has anyone ever seen a mode like this before? The supplies rings are original ruger and matte black also and so are the swivel studs. I was told by ruger that it was made in 2001 but left the factory with a stainless barrel. Thank you for any assistance

Is it the same caliber as it left the factory? If not, someone switched calibers/barrels.

Yes it’s the same .30-06 that left the factory.

I am pretty sure Ruger never put out one with blued and SS combined. As far as bluing the barrel check it with a magnet. There is a chance someone put a blued barrel on it, no idea why but you'd be surprised how many No.1's have different barrels than they came from the factory. Get a few more posts under your belt and then you can post some pics.

Thank you for the replies. I am leaning towards some one changed it but like you have no clue why someone would do that. Probably a good thing to stay away from at this point.

Any chance the barrel was Cerakoted to reduce the glare? The bluing in your photo looks very matte to me.

I’m sure there is a chance. I would have to look at it again more closely.
