The elusive and mythical Colt "Pinkerton" SAA revolver. This one appears to be a movie prop and I am not even sure any of these were ever made by Colt or even made from Colt SAA revolvers.

EMF Hartford Pinkerton model. Not a movie prop.

Uberti Pinkerton model, also not a prop.

Hmmmm.......Maybe I'm missing something! I was going off of the published specs in my RENE guide which lists it at 3 5/8". Same guide lists the New Vaquero at 3 3/4". I took this at face value ("it's in print so it must be true") but didn't actually measure it myself. Now I will go get the gun out and measure it on my own.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just measured with my digital micrometer and ...... 3 3/4" (3.7580). Proves the old saying - you can't believe everything you read!
Thanks Rod!
cuyler-- My Single Six .22LR/.22 Mag Birdshead.
oh.... sweet!
Oh yeah! Really, really sweet. That's a real beauty, cuyler.
I was not aware that Ruger built a Single Six Convertible with Bird's Head grips. Can anyone supply some details? Year offered? By Whom? (Williams, Lipsy, Factory?) Quantity produced? Original OEM price?
I thought I had all the SA revolvers I wanted. I was wrong.
Edit: To add some information found on a search. This beautiful SS was offered in late 2011 by Williams as a TALO edition. The MSRP was $600.
Looks good baydog - you can keep us updated here or on the other thread or start your own thread. Let us know what you're planning to do. Is that a 45Colt or 45ACP?
If you use a photo site like Photobucket you can import photos directly into your posts instead of the smaller attachments. Not hard to do and is free. They're easier to see that way but it's up to you.
Wave, I will check out the pic tip, thanks. As far as my girl, she is a 45colt. I will start with some grips from swindler. Then a swap to an unfluted cyliner. After that she will prob go to Bowen's for a tune-up. Then who knows...maybe some engraving. Swindler has my bisley now, making some ebony grips. I just have to decide on a wood type for the bird grips. Maybe some holly for a cool contrast.?.?.?.?
Bird's Head and Leather
Here's a few pics of my new El Paso Saddlery Tom Threeperson's holster, for a 3 ¾" barrel "new" Vaquero. It's well made, a perfect fit, very compact and IMO pretty darn good lookin'. I plan on using it with my Vaquero Montado too. I wear it with a regular belt. Not a "gun belt".
It's nice and compact and will conceal under a loose shirt.
Yes very nice leather! I am going to be in need of a cross draw rig for hunting, probably something with a flap on it in nylon.
Anyway, found this beautiful example of an OM BH Vaquero done by engraver Michael Gouse and must share:
