Almost bought one of these today on GB to convert into the .45 Ruger Special I have been dreaming up and talking about.

Almost!

Very nice JimE!

this thread has got me all excited.

Ever since I saw Waveform's birdshead Vaq back when He posted it in the pictures section I've been in love with the idea.

I'm currently in the process of picking up a old Vaquero in .357, case hardened frame. Practically new (24 logged shots). Hopefully it all goes well and in the next few days I'll have it!

I'm psyched.

I'm not going to lie, it was his early pics of his Talo .45acp vaq that got me all obsessed with a birds head too!

Now, as seen above, i have one of my own (well, not a talo .45acp, but a birds heads none the less)

Well I guess I was a little bored this evening so I decided to do a little Birdshead pinwheel photo. Vaquero, New Vaquero, Single-Six, Bearcat and "Uncle Uberti from the Old Country."

I wanted a little thinner and more rounded profile with the wider point in the middle of the palm instead of the bottom like factory black micarta grips, this lets me curl the little finger underneath the backstrap and gives more room between the trigger guard and the knuckle on the middle finger. They are polished to a gloss finish and they let the gun roll up in the hand easy, and they have that "melted" feel like those Uberti grips have. Always liked that about those guns, the grips just melt in your hand.

Hard to get the color to pop out in photos, but there are some purples and grays and cream colors, these came out of the main beam of Moose antler, right in that thick part above the "button" at the bottom.

The grips are outstanding!!

Very nice, MCPO. No card and pin but welcome to the "official" RFBOC.

BTW, is it the .45acp or .45 Colt? Oh, and happy birthday.
