The only proper way to store your extra cylinder is in a Crown Royal bag.
Had to look up what Crown Royal even meant/was . Now I know. A brand of alcohol it appears.

Just be certain the cylinder and any bag you store it in, is BONE dry before putting it away. I have seen plenty of rusty blue cylinders that got that way from moisture on the cylinder. Cold day out shooting and you bring it into the warm house and put it away---BOOM---rusty cylinder next time you take it out. Also works the other way which I witnessed this past weekend. Friends safe is in his unheated shop/garage. It was in the 20's overnight. We met up for some shooting around 11am. The sun was out but still cold until 2 or 3. He pulled out a brand new revolver in a factory Ruger plastic box. Guess what---Yep everything but the grips has a nice layer of dew on it. Taken from the cold safe and sitting on the tailgate in the sun made the moisture condense on the revolver. Yet another reason to wipe them down when you get home.

Hog Leg Hauler will become famous soon enough
Sittin on a shelf in one of my safes along side with spare cap and ball cylinders. I still have the red felt bag the mag cylinder came in for my SS6 22in April, 1971, but see no reason to store it in there. Does just fine on the shelf, see no reason to put it in a box, bag, or on a pedestal.

You cab get as many small drawstring bags as you want on Ebay. They are identical to the old Ruger bags we remember. Look for: Wedding Party Bag Gift Small Velvet Jewelry Ring Pouch Drawstring small size. Red for Ruger, Blue for Colt, etc. You get the idea

Original bag

Kept in original bag since 1960. Beginning to show a lot of wear...

That's where my stays and probably the .22 mag will always remain there. If I want or need more fire power I'll use my .357, 45 Long Colt or my .44 mag. Just saying

Nope... that's where mine is. Didn't come with a drawstring bag either. I feel left out.

Here's my little red bag from 1966. Seen a little use during its 54 years.

I bought the Smaller, Single Six bag (above) for the .22lr Cylinder for my "Super" SP101:

But the 9mm and .22lr Cylinders for the 3 Screws came in their OEM Bags:
