Question about Ruger service center

I just got a RNMBH in .41 mag. Shooting lead only it seems accuracy is not so good as compared to my others I reload lead in. (357,44,45)
While cleaning it seems there is leading just in first 1 of bbl. and I feel a tightness at the forcing cone. Ive not measured the groove dia. yet, all the cyl throats are .410 with gauge pins.
So my question if I send to ruger service dept will they charge me to open the cyl throats and fix the bbl tightness ? I figured $30 min ship each way just fer starters.
I can fire lap the bbl myself but thought factory might hold up to making it right?
What do you all suggest ? Any one deal with their service ?

Mike

Give Ruger CS a call and discuss with them. Only they can advise what they're willing to do. They may be happy to take a look at your concerns and will address anything that's out of tolerance but I wouldn't expect them to go beyond making sure things are in spec. If the gun was shipped within the last year or two they'll probably pick up the shipping cost too. It never hurts to ask - start with the phone call and go from there. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply’s guys. My main concern is not being able to talk to an actual repair
gun smith. The people that answer the phone tell me just send it we will let you know.
Shipping round trip min $60

I guess I’ll send er in and pray fer the best at min cost. I really can’t afford to put to much into this one, just want it to shoot like a blackhawk should with lead.

Thanks, Mike

Got a big surprise today, went to Fed X and UPS, only to find out that overnight shipping to
Ruger in NH from TN is only $103.00 for a firearm and $500 insurance. No insurance was still $97
OH MY !! Glad I took my blood pressure pills
I’ll call ruger customer Serv and see if there is another option since this is probably not considered a warranty issue.
What an eye opener this was.

Mike

When we have to pay to ship guns back to any manufacturer (rare, but it has happened) we have our favorite LGS ship it for us - his cost is a bit less than $30 and, being an FFL, he can ship via UPS. The only catch is that if it comes from that FFL the manufacturer has to return it to that FFL for you to pick up there.

I see you live in or near Nashville. We are also in TN, but semi rural area around 70 miles east of you, so our FFL's don't try to make a fortune on providing extra services for their regular customers. One of them obviously doesn't know much and told us it would cost them the same amount to ship a gun as it cost us.........OK, they don't know the facts and so we went back to our old standby guy.

I had the shop I bought my Block41 from send it back to Block for repair (part of buying the shop's lifetime warranty). Block shipped it directly back to me (and I was still living in ILL-Annoy back then).

An FFL with a UPS or Fedex account will get a better shipping price than someone who walks in to ship without one. USPS insured priority mail is even better for price.
