'Twas 18 days before Christmas and all through the town
Decorations and holiday bustle were found.
The tree was all trimmed and packages sourced
From Amazon, Lands' End - online shopping of course.
The mailman departed and I went to the box
Opened the door and stood there in shock.
Amidst junk mail and bills lay a little white box
From Santa! In Georgia? exactly where, well, was blocked.
I took it inside and went straight to my bench
Tore open the package and every muscle did flinch.
For what to my wondering eyes did appear
But a set of birdshead grips, so lustrous and dear.
They were made of red burl of the Tamarind tree
From tropical South Africa, across the wide seas.
They sported Ruger medallions and a nice matching screw
Wood exceedingly rare, custom and few.
I opened the safe and went straight to my work
And retrieving my Blackhawk I turned with a jerk.
The old grips came off, factory laminates - ugh!
The new grips from Santa went on perfect and snug.
I stepped back and smiled, as giddy as can be
For Christmas came early to little 'ol me!
So Santa lives in Georgia - now that's a surprise.
And he's a member of this forum, lurking in disguise!
Thank you Santa, where 'ere you may be
And please pass along my thanks to JPGLSG!
My Blackhawk birdie is now quite the sight
Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!
