Ruger lists Minnesota and Massachusetts as the states you cannot buy a Wrangler in;

"The Wrangler® is not available for sale in Minnesota and Massachusetts.

Features listed above are available on all standard models, but may not appear on Distributor Exclusive models. See individual spec sheets for model specific features."

Both states have laws prohibiting handguns with metal alloy frames which melt below a certain temperature. This was intended to block the cheap .32 and .380 pistols from the market. It also blocks the Wrangler, Heritage Rough Rider and HiPoint pistols.

from a discussion a few years ago on Illinois Carry -

Illinois
Chapter 5, paragraph 25.22(h) of the Illinois State Code makes it illegal for any dealer, importer, manufacturer or pawnbroker, to manufacture, sell or deliver to anyone, except another gun dealer licensed by the Federal government, any handgun having a barrel, slide, frame or receiver that has a die casting of zinc alloy or any other non-homogenous metal which will melt or deform at a temperature of 800 degrees Fahrenheit or less. This law was passed in October, 1973.

Best thing Ruger could have done.

I love single action revolvers, and. 22lr is a reasonable priced round

All three models of the Wrangler showed up on MA's approved firearms list in December and are now in MA shops. This must not have been an issue.

Was at a gun show Saturday and heard some doofas railing about how these couldn't be sold in MA. Dude - it's on the list! Lighten up!

So I brought one home. This looks to be a lot of fun.

I'm from MA and yep you can buy a Wrangler from gun dealers here. In fact I was at one one Tuesday to get on the waiting list but saw a like new Single Six on display and at a great price. That went home with me instead and I'm happy as a clam at high tide.

We shot a couple of cylinders of maxi-mags and couple of Federal champions not a single hitch, good groupings, no sign of excessive cylinder gap or leading or shaving. The LGS at the range had a couple of Heratige RRs with wmr cylinders and my friend that works there let me put the wmr cylinders in two them, quite a noticeable difference between the two identical guns as far as lock up goes, but I was mainly interested in end play because of the shortened length of the SS cylinder. The RRs had way more end play and cylinder gap than the non paper weight does, I did not use feeler gauges only "feel". For an occasional cylinder of wmr I am happy with the non paper weight as is, ymmv.
