Just reading the manual from the Ruger website. The manual states the Wrangler can be dry fired with NO damage to the firing oin or other components.

I've always just used empty cases as snap caps for dry fire practice in rimfire revolvers. It's nice to know that dry firing is ok in this gun but I'll probably still use fired shells for dry firing when I get a Wrangler.

I picked up a black Wrangler today. It feels good. The trigger is crisp with just a little creep and breaks at 4.25 lbs measured with a Timney spring trigger pull gauge. The grips are not fancy but fit me good and have a very solid gripping surface. I may change the grips later once I know what size frame to look for (see my other post on Wrangler grip size). Overall, I'm pleased with the pistol. It may be inexpensive but it is not cheap.

I just tried Jeff Quinn's "Poor Boy's Trigger Job" on my new Wrangler. Now the trigger is crisp and has a trigger pull of 2.75 lbs down from 4.25 lbs. Very easy to do.

I held a sliver cerakote model at one of my local gun shops. Even for the price point I thought the metal forming could have been a little better, but I wouldn't be opposed to purchasing one. I was actually there to pick up a steel framed, Heritage Rough Rider with both LR and WMR cylinders and laminate grips. Neither one is a Ruger Single Six Convertible, but for the price point, what the heck.

Tweaked my back the other day...still have not gotten to the range with my new Wrangler. Even if it is better soon going to be hard to get motivated to go to the range in temps predicted to be over 100 degrees for the next 5 days. Might have to get my lazy butt up early and go....NOT an early riser!!!

Made it to the range finally. What a great gun. Surprised how accurate it was (8 yds ) and glad I bought the new grips to put on it.

I am torn between the Wrangler and a Single Six with adjustable rear sights. Seems both are accurate but I'm an old fart, so does the fixed rear sight work as well...

Yes, I was in the same position. I had a chance to look at the Wrangler for the first time over the weekend. They only had one in stock and it was in the color combo that I liked the least. It was priced at $189. I had also been looking at a as new blued steel Single-Six convertible with adjustable sights and 4 5/8 inch barrel for $450. I opted to go for the Single-Six.

I will say that while I was looking at the Wrangler I was impressed at how nice it was for the money.

Bottom line, if you have older eyes, wear glasses or readers, and want to shoot groups, get the adjustable sights version of you only get one.

I have two single sixes and two Wranglers. The Wranglers are fun plinkers for steel and scratches that Cowboy gun itch. The single sixes are target guns, and benefit from being able to adjust them to ammo—and your eyeglass prescription. Consider the 6.5” it helps a lot in my opinion now that I am older. I currently have 5.5” models and tried a friend’s hunter version and it made a difference.

2 Wranglers ans some parts

My younger son just turned 21yo and is a revolver fan, a new Wrangler was his birthday present (his brother received a P-22 for his 21st). After I purchased the pistol for him and started looking online at the Wrangler I ended up getting one for my birthday (61st) as well. We are at a little over 200 rounds through each, I purchased a birdshead frame and grips as well as a set of Wolff springs for mine, I also won an auction for a factory 22 WMR SS New Model Single Six cylinder. I will post if it fits right in and how the bore alignment is, if the alignment checks out I will shoot some WMR through it prior to posting. If for some reason it doesn't fit well and index, I will have a new paperweight for the desk in my mancave. To be continued...

Local gun shop had one finally last Monday. Price was $249 before New Jersey fees and taxes.Too much for me,however the user New Model Blackhawk for about $569 looks sweet.
