Mossberg Bolt Action Shotgun Pawn Shop Find

Today I visited a pawn shop down the road from work. I usually stop in every couple weeks to see what they have and kill time for lunch. To my surprise they still had a mossberg 395KB I had seen a few weeks back. I thought it was kind of a cool gun with the adjustable choke and removable magazine. With it being priced at $100 I figured I could maybe talk them down $20 at the most. I couldnít pull my wallet out fast enough when he said $55 was the best he could do on it. Ended up paying just under $60 with tax. Not the prettiest gun: stock has a crack thatís been repaired, lots of scuffs and scratches but it definitely gives the gun character. Canít wait to get this to the trap range and shoot a couple rounds with it

Heck yeah! Great pawnshop find. I would have jumped all over that deal. I can think of several good uses for a shotgun like that. Everyone needs a utility gun that can ride behind the seat of the truck in a soft case without being concerned about small dings or checking weekly for rust. It would be perfect mounted on the tractor or UTV at deer camp or on a farm. I'd crank the choke down tight and do some pattern tests with some 2 3/4" turkey loads. If it did ok a spray can camo job would be next up on the list. Congratulations on your cool Mossberg.

Great find. I saved one years ago from a rusty death.

Thirty years ago I bought a Stevens 58B bolt action 410 from a guy for $10. It had been kept behind his pick up seat for many years. Rusty, scarred, and the left extractor was missing. Hand made the extractor from a hardened nail and a small spring, steel wooled the rust, cold blued the metal, and refinished the stock. It claimed a large number of Grouse/Partridge up in Maine before I moved here. Haven't used it much since but I like that gun

I'd say that was a good lunch break.

PS: Your workbench is WAY too clean!

Exactly. This will definitely see some time as a truck gun. I had been looking for a cheap shotgun to lend to buddies when turkey and bird hunting so this will see some hunting time. Iíll be patterning it soon.
