bad luck on new gun

i have been having trouble with my maverick 88, but mossberg has been A+ on helping me fix it. so with their great service i decided to get another maverick 88 today so my wife and i could shoot together. i bought it at walmart still in box as i don't like getting display models, i checked it out on the working slide and everything was smooth, so i bought it. got it home and the front bead is broken off, i did not think to check the barrel as there isn't much to go wrong. i really hate calling mossberg again about this but they should have checked this. how do i get a new one back on?, i don't think i have a wrench that small, does anyone know the size? thanks

I wonder if you went back to Walmart if they would swap barrels for you. Never hurts to ask.

I wouldn't worry about getting a wrench for it since you shouldn't have to fix it! I really like hi-viz and trijicon magnetic sights for shotguns..if you don't want to send your gun back out again.

I used a set of ignition wrenches and parts from Midway. Easy peasy.

wal mart said no, but the crazy thing is they said i should have checked it, but they won't let anyone check a gun in box without a trigger lock, they said its their rules. so how can i check when they won't let me, crazy wal mart rules. if i wasn't on a fixed income and could spare the money i would buy from my local shop but with over $40 in price difference, i had to buy from wal mart. how good are these?, Dead Ringer Uni-Bead Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight DR4386. i have never put on a sight before on a shotgun and have never used these. gonna call mossberg tomorrow but with that little white bead able to come off, even if they send one i am gonna get something for backup. thanks

Next time you purchase a gun at Walmart have them get the gun out of the box then look it over before you accept it. This way you might avoid having this happen to you....good luck!!!

Next time go to the local gun shop first and ask them to match Walmart's price . I would bet that they will . The magnetic Hi Vis sight that locks on the bead base work good and are really pretty cheap . I've had one on a French over and under for a few years and have had no problems with it . All that was left of the bead on that gun was the metal base and it locked onto it just fine and the rare earth magnets in the base won't let it move to come loose . They used to sell them at Walmart in a package with several different colors of the rods in the package , red ,yellow and green I think .
