Mini 14 Scope mount and rings

I searched for new mounts and rings for my two new mini 14s before I even purchased them, and have come to the conclusion that the rail that comes with the new rifles is the best for the rifle. However the rings that come with it are not even close to the same quality as the rings that were available for the first mini I had in 1990, I will use the rail that came with the rifle and some quick detach mount for whatever scope I choose to easily alternate between scope and peep sights. I will also modify the rear peep to use inserts from tech sights, five minutes with a drill and file and they fit perfectly.

I believe the Weigand rail puts the scope a bit closer to the bore axis, but I also dont think it allows the use of the steel sights. Mine that I just got off GB came with one and I'm picking up from my FFL today so will report back.
