Said I wasn't going to do it,,,,,,but. Ordered a Magpul SL Carbine handguard, waiting on the Magpul CTR buttstock to be available. Already have a Nikon P223 on order and found a bayonet lug rail mount for that whatever kind of optic I decide on. Somebody stop me!! (AR 556) :D

Go For It

As long as it looks good to you I say have at it and enjoy. Many enjoy dressing and, dare I say it, undressing their AR to their delight. That's part of the fun.

Disclaimer: I haven't customized my AR except for removing the handle and adding rear sights. My next addon is a ambi single point sling.

Congrats!

Since I've got my SR-556E several months back I've swapped/added:

ERGO pistol grip Here
ERGO magwell grip Here
Spikes ST-T2 buffer Here
Spikes 7075-T6 tube Here
Magpul CTR stock Here
Cheap BSA red dot Here
Ruger handguard covers Here
3 - 3" rails up front Here
KZ 3QD end plate Here
3 30 round pmags with windows Here
I also color filled my etchings with Testors enamel paint, the Ruger logos on the sights and handguard covers.

I'm waiting on my MS4 style 1 and 2 point sling. I still want to get my barrel threaded and a muzzle brake added (it was a state compliant model before I got my hands on it). I have no restrictions in Ohio so..

It's a tinker toy, tinker with it and enjoy!

Not really adding on much, replacing handguard, replacing stock, add scope, add bayonet lug rail mount. Kinda like I do to my Harley, replace that with this, generally an upgrade. Not into bell's and whistles.

I'm with ya I've had my AR556 probably a month or so and added the following all Magpul.

MOE Carbine hand guard, CTR stock, MVG Vertical grip, MOE Grip, MOE 7 slot rails (one on each side of hand guard) and I have ERGO rail covers, not to mention the $100 I spent on the Drago rifle bag which was well worth it btw.

I honestly did not have any plans to add anything Magpul before I bought this rifle but after the first magpul part I bought and installed which was the hand guard and it was really nice and fit tight so I just had to have more and now I see why they are so popular.

The price is right on each little magpul part but it adds up, there is a lot off parts that can be "upgraded".

Oh and wideboy how is the 223 Nikon? I was looking at one today at Academy I think it may be the one for me.

Have only got to look at one (P223) at the LGS, mine hasn't been delivered yet. It seem to fit what I needed, compact, magnification, clear, and priced right.
