Markings on MK1

Looked at a MK1 last night at gun show but it had no MARK 1 markings on it, I don't know much about the older marks so what year did they start labeling them or were there certain ones without any model markings?

If it doesn't say Mark I then it is either an RST-6 or RST-4 (known as the Ruger Standard) not a Mark I. Mark I's say so on the receiver and have adjustable rear sights. The Mark I came out just about the same time as the Standard Non Mark 1's. The RST-4 and RST-6 have non adjustable, fixed rear sights.

kacher1 is correct. The only guns to get stamped Mark I were the adjustable sight models. Fixed sight models - the Standards - were simply marked Ruger 22 cal automatic pistol. Wasn't until the Mark IIs that the Standards were marked with Mark II.

Here is what a Mark I w/markings looks like:

This is a "Standard" -- fixed sights, no "Mark I" designation:

A Standard is a nice simple gun. The Mark I and Mark II magazines that Ruger sells work better in the Standard than the original silver based magazines that the gun originally came with, BTW.
