I recently installed the vq accuracy kit in my 22/45 and I got it to work just fine. I decided to change out the mag release to the titan from tandemkross. After this install the hammer won't drop after it is cocked and it seems the trigger doesn't have any effect on the sear. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The mag release should have nothing to do with the fire control group. So 3 possibilities come to mind:
1) The VQ hammer can get stuck too far back. If you don't feel the bolt contact the hammer when you cycle it - remove the upper and make sure the hammer is up about 30* (not parallel to the frame).
2) Make sure the safety is fully in the "fire" position. It's easy to bump the safety lever part way toward "safe", which will block the sear.
3) Make sure the VQ trigger's pretravel screw is not turned too far in or the trigger bar won't reset behind the sear. Also check that the overtravel screw isn't too far in or the sear won't move far enough forward to release the hammer.
It looks like it is parallel and the screws are backed out. Safety is off. I've taken the hammer out and put it back in with the same problem still present.
It shouldn't be parallel. Lift the end of the hammer up. It should stop at about 30 degrees up. That is the correct cocked position where the sear can release it.
