Old or New Standard?

Getting back into 22 plinking again and been looking on GB at Standard models as well as Bud's at new ones. I seem to be leaning towards the older ones without the internal lock sys but am not sure why. When did the internal lock sys start? MKIII? Or earlier?

The internal key lock started with the Mark III and applies to both the conventional models and the 22/45s.

I forgot that mine even had that lock. I put the key somewhere and have never used it. I would not let that deter you, if you are like me you won't even know it's there. I like the mag release on the newer ones. I don't like that bottom release at all.

Howie: After reading your comment about the III I've been scouring the gun listings and agree with you as I don't like a mag release on the bottom. Now I've got to decide which model to go with. I like the standard barrel, but also like an adj rear sight as my old eyes always seem to need the help. Does anyone know if theres an aftermarket adj that will work on a Standard model?

I thought about the standard but for the same reason went with the target model. I don't know if they make after market sights or not, I would think so.

Buds has a SS 4 1/2 fluted barrel with adj sights that appeals to me. Its $470, more than I wanted to pay, but I have a Red Dot I've never used that might be fun to try, and by time I tried to add adj sights on a lesser model It would prob be close to that amount.
