Accessory Rail on P95

Have a new P95 and found a cheap (though well-reviewed) light.

The light says it is compatible with any Picatinny / Weaver rail and has gotten good reviews.

It doesn't slide right on; it's very tight and even with quite a bit of force it only slides about 1/2" onto the rail.

Anyone have any accessories they use with this frame?

Is it possible I got a frame that was just fractions of an inch out of spec?

Unfortunately I don't have anything else to try on the frame. My next step is to take it in somewhere to test something else and see if it's the gun or the cheap light.

Would that light happen to have the initials Nc in it's name?I just bought the same light(I'm guessing)and have the same problem.I've filed down the inside of the rails on the light and have got it to fit much better but not far back enough as to make the clamp fit into the rail groove on the pistol.I'm taking it slow to make sure that I still get a good tight fit but I think this will fix the problem.

No, the brand seems to be UAG Tactical. It has a painted metal frame, what did you use to file yours down?

I may just return it and spend the extra money for a more quality light.

UAG Tactical, UTG, NC, NcStar, etc. are all pretty much made in the same chinese factory. While from time to time they do produce an okay product, I think your gut instinct is right. Go find a quality light.

With just a little more filing I have it to a perfect fit.

Try a TLR 1 or 3 they are reasonable priced and mount up easily. It fits great on my KP95PR.

try banging against a hard surface. I bought a light and tried to file down and nothing.... then I just got fed up and banged the light down on a table and "click" it went into place. After that it was easy to get in and out and locked up fully, staying secure after firing many rounds. YMMV

Haha. So, to be clear, was this with the slide and everything on? Or was this just the frame and the light with no slide / barrel etc.?

It was fully assembled(unloaded OF COURSE).
More of a hearty tap than a bang really....

is a cheap light still good enough for sight picture compared to a costly laser?

Well, since I don't have $100 and I DO still have a cheap light, I went down this road for now.

It was surprisingly easy to file down and a lot smoother than I thought it would be. Fits fine now after quite a bit of filing.

After testing it in the dark, I've found indoors the reflection back off the walls is plenty to line up the sights. Sucker is bright!

P/95

I have a p95 9mm that I want to put a laser on but the accessory rail only has one groove and it causes the laser to stick out about 3/8 of an inch beyond the barrel and looks sloppy. Is this common and of what use is an accessory rail with only one place to attach something. The laser is a FireField
