Im just curious to see how many want or already have a SR1911. If anyone around here had them in stock I would have one or at least have a hard time not buying it.
I voted "not interested". I had a really nice Taurus PT1911 for three years and only shot a box of shells through it. I'm sure the Ruger is also a nice one also but .45's are just not my thing.
I've had mine since the first week of May. I paid $645.00. I now have more than 6,000 rounds through it. I will be shooting it in another PS match tomorrow.
Last week at a gun show I bought it a companion -- a Ruger 22/45 Mark III Talo edition with a 4½-inch barrel. This gun feels exactly the same in hand and has the same sight radius as the SR1911.
I absolutely love my SR1911. I have a Dillon 550 to keep it well-fed. I bought the 22/45, not to save ammo, but so I could shoot even more...
I got mine last June after searching for a month or two and not being able to find one. Still I got one of the early models. It is a pleasure to shoot and hooked me on 1911's. Since then I've added an Ed Brown Molon Labe and I'm building a DIY 1911 from scratch with parts from Wilson Combat.
All in all, it seems like most of the people who aren't interested either just aren't that interested in 1911's at all or those who gave up waiting after not being able to find one.
Ruger did a nice job on the SR1911. They must have done something right since the biggest complaint is that Ruger can't make them fast enough.
My SR1911 was my first 1911 and my favorite gun... until I bought the Molon Labe. I know Ed Brown's are pricey, but it's like no other gun I've ever shot standing heads and shoulders above the rest. But the SR1911 still runs a close second.
i'll be the first to admit, im becoming less and less interested in the SR1911 and might just give one of the Remingtons a shot. ive never had a 1911 but years ago i did have a Colt Commander and flat out didnt like it. i wanted a REAL 1911!
Can't even get the SR1911 in CA, so not an option for me. You guys that have been looking at the RIA, I say go for it if it's your only available option, you won't be dissapointed.
