Ruger EC9s red indicator below safety lever blocks slide.

My dad got a new EC9s a couple weeks ago and brought me to the range to test it out yesterday. It ran fine and my dad liked it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. After cleaning it last night, he carried it again today but when he came back home at night, he couldn’t rack the slide at all to clear the gun. After searching up many tips and advice on how to fix this problem, which I am now aware that there are plenty of reasons why the slide might get stuck, I wasn’t getting anywhere. Finally, I noticed that the red dot below the safety lever was protruding out of the gun and was catching the slide. It hooked onto the place where the safety lever would normally go, blocking the slide. I pushed it back in with a pen and then the slide worked again.
My dad was carrying it normally and didn’t bang it around while carrying so I think this is a very dangerous malfunction for the gun.
Anyway, I didn’t see any posts about this so just want to make this problem made known. Probably going to call ruger in the morning to see if we can get the gun fixed or something, but still kind of disappointed.

I didn’t take a photo of my dad’s gun but just marked a stock photo from google. The red dot I circled in red is what I am talking about. It partially popped out and locked the slide, making it so that we couldn’t rack it.
