P90 - Global War on Terror

Hello all, First post, new to the forum but not new to Ruger. My first Ruger was a 10/22 Deluxe my dad gave me on my 16th birthday - that was in 1977 if I've calculated that right - it still spits them out as good today as it did then!

I just purchased a like new in the box P90. The front of the slide is etched Global War On Terror with a globe and what looks like a paw print.

I can't find any reference to this pistol (special edition - etc.) or this symbol.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks to all

That’s definitely different, I’ve never seen anything like, (which means nothing). Makes ya wonder if a previous owner did it or if was a limited run.

Try doing a picture search on the emblem. Might turn up info.

First off welcome to the forum from the Buckeye State ... you'll love the P90, mine is the best shooter I have out of all the P series ... I've never seen that globe and saying, so I'm guessing it was a mod from a previous owner ...

Likely just something the previous owner did to customize it.

RANGE DOG will become famous soon enough
Welcome to the forum,
I’ll side with the above comments, pretty sure that was done after it left the factory,
But a call or better yet a email picture to Ruger would confirm it.
Either way a P90 that clean is a great find.

That etching looks awful official to me. Not like something some guy did to customize his new toy. Iím betting itís some sort of issue weapon.
The gov had all sorts of contracts flying when that show kicked off everybody was trying to get into the act. It could have been some contract or even part of a try me and see feeler put out by Rugar to gain a contract. I bet if you emailed them a pic they could tell you .
Also it might just be simply a limited edition commemorative sort of thing, just a sales promotion. I do recall seeing some colt 45 with the twin towers on and similar others during that time. Rugar can tell you though. Shoot we an email with a pic.

Thanks for all the replies, I have to agree with this one. I just don't see someone creating this to add to their pistol.

I called Ruger customer service and was given an email address to submit this question. It's been sent along with pictures, I'll pass along any information I receive.

Thanks again

I'd start with some fine sandpaper, maybe 800 grit or 1000, It may come right off.

Why on earth would anyone want it off? It sets it off from the heard if nothing else. Look at how folks crave Lugers and maulers with a Wermacht or Nazi stamp.

It's a mystery to me...

My only contribution is to state that the US Army "Global War on Terrorism" Service Medal also features a globe but no paw print.

Same reason you would keep it. Your opinion. You like it.
I prefer a clean stock look. Its a very ugly Logo, in my opinion. I'd remove it
or scrap the gun for parts

Could be related to the military contractor, Blackwater. Looks very similar to their logo back around 2007.

Please do let us know what you find from Ruger.

DING DING DING. We have a winner. Definitely lookslike the Blackwater Paw imposed over the "Global War on Terror" service medal globe.
