discoloring inside chamber?

I just bought a Security 9, i decided to clean it before shooting it. i took it apart and there is a grayish brown spot aout halfway around inside the chamber more gray and very light brown. i can't see anything in the barrel and half of the chamber is good. it's not rough feeling and ammo cycles good by hand. taking a plastic nozzle straw from my rem oil i can't feel it catch on it so it has to be very thin or may be in the bluing. My bronze bore brush won't clean it off, it has me stumped. i have oiled it and put everything back together and cycled it. and it cycles fine by hand. I am thinking it's part of the bluing that didn't take well but wanted to ask here. thanks for any help on this.

I would fire the pistol and if you have no issues go for it. If it is roughfeeding contact the company.

i called ruger. was told it was the bluing process that didn't take well. they would take the gun back and fix it or i could just use it like it is as it won't hurt anything. gonna wait till deer season is up this Sunday and go in my back yard and try it out. if it shoots good then I will keep it as thats the real test and a real excuse to send it in if it doesn't feed. I bet tho that it feeds great as it does by hand and the coloring in the chamber is smooth all around. I believe it was just a bad bluing by ruger like the tech said. i was just checking to see if anyone else may have had this in their chamber or on their barrel? thanks

I would be concerned about rust, or putting down the line. I would send it in to Ruger.

I couldn't get a pic with my phone but I did find an online pic, now this discolored area in the pic is on top of the barrel chamber, my outside is good I have the same color inside the barrel chamber. not the whole chamber just part of it, the rest of the barrel is real good on mine.

I decided to take it down and realy brush it and it's still there so it has to be just where the bluing messed up. I did think to check ammo in the chamber and have a question. with the barrel out i can drop a cartridge in the chamber by hand easier, the ammo has a little wiggle, is this normal? I don't have another semi auto to check so i was wondering if ammo is supposed to be snug in the chamber or wiggle a little? thanks

I don’t know. My $300 gun is flawless and the finish inside and out is perfect. Maybe Ruger should roll away from bluing.

I don't see much inside the barrel, but what is that flaking on the top / outside of the barrel? That on a new pistol?

My two cents: if Ruger will take it back and fix it (or send you a new barrel), go for it.

Thought I would update, the gun was returned from Ruger yesterday. They replaced the barrel and sent an extra magazine.

Well me and my nephew shot the Ruger Security 9 yesterday, the good news is the gun now shoots to point of aim and worked flawless. the bad news is he hates the trigger as he is used to striker fired guns. but I told him to keep givin it a try, he has a good gun now.
