Traded my almost new M&P V2.0 40 Cal 3.6 barrel a week or so ago for a used SR40. I'm retired military and have always been an able shooter but the M&P shot low - and from research I wasn't the only one experiencing it.

I previously owned an SR9C which I loved so I decided to trade my M&P in at a local gun store for a slightly used SR40.

All I can say is wow. Bullseye almost every time, and less kick. I had so much fun shooting it compared to the M&P.

However I do have a complaint. The SR40 shreaded the bullseye so much that I had to purchase several targets at the range!

I do like the mag safety which the M&P does not have. I know many people don't like mag safeties, but once I read one of cunningham's books where it related that a number of police have been saved by a mag safety - well I was in. (If the bad guy has grabbed your gun and you can't get control of it drop the mag and it can't be used against you.)

I also like the loaded cylinder indicator being very visible. My gun is always loaded and chambered, but in the event it wasn't chambered for whatever reason, the easy visual feedback could be a lifesaver.

I am saddened that this line was dropped. Don't care about the 9's or 45's, drop them, but now ruger doesn't sell any 40's. If they had come out with a SR40 V2 I'd be in!

I was considering picking up another SR9c, but now that this line is nonexistent...how long before parts start drying up. That would be my concern.

Naturally once my SO found out that they were discontinued, she decided she needed another. I managed to find her a new SR9C stainless for $299.99. It will be a nice BD gift.

There are still 2 NIB listed on gunbroker for $299.99 buy now price. We usually see some at the local gun show but last weekend there were none. Prices are all over the place.

I just got my SR40c today, couldn't pass it up for just a shade over $300.00 from Buds. I think this thing has a better trigger than my SR9c, just from dry firing in the house. Less take up and a very short reset. Going to get some ammo tomorrow. May start caring this instead of the LC9s. It'll fit in my cell phone holster. I think Ruger made a terrible mistake discontinuing these guns. See the price of the LC9s is on the rise too.

I love the SR9C, just bought more mags for it. But just like the LC9S I own, It will only be used for a Range gun. Just too dangerous to carry with the Light trigger.
You say it has a very short reset? Personally I never ride a reset on any gun. Never have and never will. So could care less about one. I have moved completely away from the Internet preaching of light triggers and short resets that were so common for the past number of years. Done with them.
For EDC it will be a nice smooth double action or Double Action/Single action. I replaced the LC9S with a better built gun, milder shooter, and double action. Will be spending the next 6 months looking for another compact to replace the SR9C. Just wish the SR had a double action trigger, it would be perfect.

I don't ride the reset either, but I never said anything about the trigger being lite. I don't think any of my Rugers have a lite trigger. I just don't like a trigger to have a lot of take up. I don't like any pistol that has a lot of pull before it goes bang. I hated the trigger on my LCP, that's why it's gone. I never would have bought it to begin with, had I shot one before. The trigger in my LC9s has a lot more take up and a long reset compared to my other pistols, but it is crisp. Not crazy about the D/A triggers in my PT99 or my 686 and never shoot them that way. I always pull the hammer back, before firing. I'm one that am glad the SR series doesn't have a trigger like you want, because I wouldn't own one then.

Anyone have a SR45? I was thinking about getting one if I found one for the right price. looks like several are coming on Gunbroker. I though I would get some opinions of how folks liked them.

Yeah, I was pissed when they discontinued the lineup. HOWEVER. I was able to purchase a NIB SR40 on gunbroker for, after shipping, $260.00. I paid $449 plus tax when I bought the black version of the gun back in 2013.

Still a lot of NIB SR40's available.

Also, Ruger pissed me off by only offer pistols in 9 and 45. I prefer the 40. The only gun they offer in 40 right now is the PC carbine.

I don't see them ever getting rid of the SR1911 ...
The SR1911 isn't even comparable to the rest of the SR-Series pistols...

I think Ruger should drop the 'SR' portion of the name and just call it a '1911' and be done with it...that's what it is anyhow!

I love my Ruger 1911 Commander...

A lot of companies are no longer offering .40 caliber pistols...
Even Glock has not included the .40 in with their latest Gen 5 offerings...
I prefer a .45, but I so sometimes carry a .40, which is still better than a 9mm, performance-wise.

If you are looking for an SR9, RKguns.com, a division of Rural King, has both the black and the stainless full size SR9 for $279 this weekend as long as supplies last.

I don't work for RK or receive anything from them. Just passing along a sale.
