OK, Range Report with new grips here!

Alright I'm back in love with my SP101! I got the Pachmayr Renegade grips. WOW! It is hard for me to believe/understand why it made such a difference. I think the difference in trigger reach was the whole deal. And BTW I wanted to stick with the original thinking the rubber would help manage recoil. But I can't tell a difference in recoil.I now shoot the SP101 as well as my LCR in 38s and way better in 357. And I did not enjoy shooting the 357s out of the LCR but I do enjoy it in the SP101. So there in lies the big advantage the SP has over the LCR. I want to carry 357 and I have confidence shooting them with the SP. And I know it shouldn't matter.... but the gun looks great with these grips. And I do care for some reason what it looks like. I don't carry a Glock and yes they are ugly. I have a shied and a M&P Compact. Great guns that I don't like. The picture I attached is the FIRST 20 rounds 38 Special I shot with the new grips at 7 yards. I'll get better but I'm happy and confident with these results. The second picture is the next 35 rounds at 10 yards and some of them 357.

Can I get an Amen?

I was going to say you should embrace the LCR because that's what I did after selling my DAO sp101 and trying to convince my wife to rid herself of a hammered version. I can't shoot them well and I never liked how they felt in spite if giving them lots of attention, including polishing and a variety of grips. My first 5 shots with the LCR were better than weeks of practice with the sp101. The message was clear. I only carry .38 +p and it's all I ever would have used in the sp101 so I was not losing anything except the excess weight. I have considered getting a .327 for the extra shot but I mostly use the LCR for car carry or winter ccw and I like the heavier bullets. Probably doesn't make a difference though.

Way to go!

Nice targets. Certainly "good enough for government work." (Actually, the way some cops shoot, it's probably better than that! Ha.)

Let's see pictures of the grips!

Amen! Congrats on finding the key to keeping the SP101, I love mine. I don't really see the point of .357 in the snubby though, unless part of your self-defense strategy is setting your assailant on fire. I think less is more with a .38 +P round.
