GP100, 22lr 4.2" Model 1766

When was this model made, from what year to what year? I saw them new on Ruger's and TALO's website a year ago and haven't been able to find one since. I regularly check most of the online gun for sale websites. When I do an internet search for GP100 1766 for sale, I never find a valid auction. The guns have all long since been sold.

The 5.5" version is 'sort of' available but the 4.2" seems to be very difficult to find. Any information anyone can shed on this model would be greatly appreciated. I'm patient and will wait to find one, I'm just curious if anyone has any information about this particular model. Thank you.

Bueller, Ferris Bueller?

Nothing? No information on this elusive GP100. Oh well, it took me a long time to find my GP100 model 1708 so I'll just keep looking.

I did call Ruger today and the Customer Service rep was very nice. She said the 4.2” model 1766 was a Davidson’s exclusive. I’d have to contact any dealer that deals with Davidson’s. The last production run of 1766’s was approximately 2 years ago. So yea, about what I thought. My plan is to continue what I have been doing. Internet search’s on a regular basis.

I chased a thread on that revolver. All I found was estimated value for used one.

I bought a 5.5" first but really wanted a 4" but they did not make at that time, so when I first saw one and they were available, I bought a 4" as well.
I like the balance of the 4" but never shot it as I had already been shooting the 5.5 and time is always against me when deciding what to carry to shoot.
I bought the compact grips as I think the original grips are bulky on the end, you monster hand folks may disagree.
I really like the 4", I just can't bring myself to shoot it now that they are no longer made.

Are you in the market for a 4 or want to shoot the 5.5?
Could probably make either happen.
