New Security Six

Just picked this Security Six today. My buddy and I saw it at another show a few weeks ago and it's been kind of haunting me since. We rode up to a dinky little show this morning and because I think foot traffic was really light (if there were 115 people walking around, it was a lot) the guy gave me a pretty good price for it.

It's a 1973 manufacture, in really nice shape. I seriously don't think it was shot much.

Sorry, for the phone pic. The lighting wasn't great.

Thanks to CajunBass' thread, I now know it's a little more special.

Great revolver! It looks new. Be sure to let us know if it shoots as good as it looks.

That's a nice one. Even nicer than the one I've got, and I thought that one was just about perfect.

Enjoy it. I'm a Smith and Wesson fan, especially of the Model 19, but the Security-Six is a very worthy rival, and even today the price difference is about half given equal condition.

Congrats.

These are some of the best revolvers ever made. Rugged good looks and built like a tank.

The Security 6 was the first gun I ever bought for myself. I bought mine in about 1986 and I still have it. I love to shoot it.

Great find,
Always one of my favorites. I shoot all but the 6 inch, it is still wrapped up and in the box.
Enjoy your new Ruger.

As a long time collector of S&W revolvers and a fan of Ruger Security Six series revolvers, I would say, at least in my area and to my knowledge, the price difference is really not that much these days.

Finding quality (or most any) Ruger Security Six series revolvers is getting harder and harder, and their prices are reflecting that.

To the OP, you got a beautiful revolver, and I am only mad because I missed it (as I'm from SEPA also).

Congrats and good luck with it!

1979 vintage, and it was bought new. Tens of thousands of rounds down the tube, and it still looks and feels brand new. Couldn't ask for more:

I have a six inch stainless gun. It has been shot a bunch but carefully maintained. It is still tight and accurate.

This one's made the rounds in PA. My buddy first saw it at the Allentown show. We both saw it again at the Oaks show. We then drove up to the Leesport Gun Show on Sunday, hoping the guy was there, still had it and was willing to deal.

I knew it was worth going after it after seeing a couple on Gunbroker that are really hagged out, but the seller is asking $400 and $440. The seller wasn't asking much more than that for this safe queen.

I really wasn't in the market for a new gun, but this one just called to me.
