SP101 hard to cock hammer after several rounds

Had the SP101 out from storage for a shooting session. After about ten rounds (38 spcl) the hammer got increasingly difficult to cock back for single action! Something definately no right, here. I think this topic came up once before but I could not find it. Something is preventing the easy ocking of hammer/rotation of cylinder after just a few rounds. I got frustrated and put it away, and shot with another gun for the remainder of session. When I got home, dry fire was just fine! So, I thought of two things, some heat aftected it (this really shouldn't happen, these weren't hot loads, or, maybe the primers were backing out and restricting cylinder rotation. But, I placed all my spent brass on a glass sheet, and no primers were protruding. Gun was clean and, like I said, worked effortlessly when dry fire. Any ideas?

The gun is real clean. I checked all the B/C gap and the headspace gap when I first purchased. The brass isn't rubbing the recoil shield. And, the bullets are not rubbing the forcing cone. It may be a crane issue, as, if you "help" the cylinder along, it seems to offer some relief.

Midlife

Look at the notches magnified , a little carbon (yes even 1 cyl full) can cause balking , also if the window for the hand is a little snug it`ll cause balking .

Most commonly thing is powder residue under the extractor causing the cyl. to grow in length enuff to titen up . Look good them flakes & bits can hide good !!!

I fire the SP101 "single action" and the first cylinder works flawlessly. Then around the second or third cylinder, cocking the hammer is downright difficult if not raspy. This isn't the way a gun should work. I NEVER have this issue with the GP100 with over 50 rounds in a session. I don't think it is related to the ammo, either... Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. I'll also do a photo shoot on cleanup to see if I find anything out of the ordinary....
I'll check the pawl and extractor, but, this is really unacceptable. 10-15 rounds of dirty ammo shouldn't seize an action.

Take a look at the front of the cylinder once it starts to get hard to turn - see if any "scrapes" in the soot. If you have your gauge, check the B/C gap after it's been fired some, too. Mine had a tight B/C gap and I experienced the same thing you're seeing. Soot/heat expansion/whatever. Sent it back to Ruger and they opened the gap. No problems since.

I have the same issue with a new SP101 2" Match Champion. Also trigger return issue. Sent it back to Ruger, issue with pawl. Trigger issue fixed but action still tightens up after shooting half a box. Cocking the hammer single action is still a bear. Expensive gun, very disappointed. I can shoot my Colt 2" King Cobra all day without these issues.
