SP101 Family Photo and thoughts...

After years of contemplating buying an SP101 only to buy semi-autos when I went to the gunshops, I have finally seen the light and jumped head first into 357 Mag SP101 ownership.

The 2" DAO was my first, then the 4", then the 3". My SP101 purchasing is complete (for now). I brought home the Wiley Clapp last night.

My EDC has been the 2" DAO, but the WC might take it's place. I really like the sights on the WC

- The 4" is on Top and its unmodified.

- The 2" DAO is second from the top. I added the factory wood inserts, a Wilson Combat Spring Kit and XS big Dot night sight

- The 3" is next and I added the factory wood inserts and XS big dot night sight

- Finally, the WC. All stock. I wish Ruger had given this model a bead blast finish to set it off.

Nice collection of SP101s.

There are several things Ruger could have done to the WC SP101 to make it more like the GP100 versions but my guess is TALO had a price point in mind and this is what they could do within that price structure. Ruger made these for TALO so I think TALO gets the credit or blame for the design elements chosen. I agree - the same finish as the 1752 WC GP100 would have been great. Also the same barrel profile, melted edges and a custom grip would have been nice too. But perhaps if all those items had been included the price would have climbed too high.

Excellent collection of some rugged little revolvers.

My first SP101 was a 2.25" version in .357, which was a Christmas present to myself in December 1994 and was my EDC for more than 10 of the past 20 years. An excellent shooter...and accurate too!

Over the years, I've owned four (4) SP101's...but currently only have two (2) of them...the one mentioned above and an (older, 6-shot) 4" SP101 in .22lr...which is an absolute dream to shoot!

I've always wanted a DAO in .38...not sure why but it just appeals to me as a snub-nosed .38 revolver for personal defense.

Nice group . Sadly, and stupidly, I traded my 2 1/4" SP101 on a WWII collectible I just had to have. Within a month I'll be getting another 101.

Nice collection, with very sensible changes.
The Ruger SP101 is truly one of the most rugged and simple defensive handguns in the world!

I'm not an SP101 fan, because I like a heavier frame but I must say, that is a fine looking family of handguns you have there. Especially like the one on top. Very nice!

Great collection! I've got the WC sp101. I love it, especially the sights. But like others have said it would be that much sweeter if it had the matte stainless hawkeye finish like it's bigger brother.

I only have 1 SP101 2.5" but its a joy to CCW with. Very comforting knowing I have 5 rounds of proven man stoppers at hand . It's part of my Ruger family SP101, GP100, RH 45LC and P345. Man I need to get out an shot these - thanks for given me the trigger itch.
