What are your thoughts on the WC SP101?

I like the WC editions, but will it do more than what your SP is already doing? I would just keep the carry wear to the SP you have now. Get the WC if you want it. I got the WC GP and really like it. It won't ever be a regular carry though.

If you like those features better than what you have then it's worth consideration. I might be inclined to stick with the DAO you have and put a tritium front sight on it and a new grip you like better, including the one that's on the WC model if you prefer it. It's a stock grip with wood insert that has been used on at least one other SP101 model.

I had one pass through my hands not too long before you joined. It was a nice SP101 but I'm not sure it would do anything better for me than the other two SP101s I still have. To me the biggest difference with the WC model is the Novak sights. All of the other features can be added to any SP101.

Just my thoughts.....

I like my WC/SP. The sights are the biggest draw. I have considered picking up a DAO SP and adding the Gemini gold bead front sight and being happy.

Thanks for the input. I have added the XS big dot and grips from my 4" SP (same as Talo). I wouldn't be getting rid of my DAO, just adding to the number.

I am trying to decide between the WC or a standard 3" next. The 3" would be cheaper...

The Novak sights are what drew me to the WC edition. I'm glad I got it. It shoots to point of aim with my normal carry load. My old DAO sp101 shoots low but this new one is perfect..

Is the factory trigger any better on the WC SP101 than the standard 101?

Thanks?

A trigger job is probably cheaper. My standard SP101 in 357, 3+" has a trigger job and throats opened up for lead bullets (.3575). Big difference. My GP100 5" is going in for the same treatment, at least the trigger job.

No - the WC SP101 does not receive any action work at the factory. Stock trigger, springs, no shims, etc. just like any other. You get the Novak sights and a contoured cylinder plus the grip inserts that they use on the engraved TALO model. Otherwise a bone stock SP101.

If all I am getting is the sights, cylinder and grips, I think I will hold off and get a standard 3". Then I will have a 2", 3" and 4".

Thanks for the information.

OK - but in parting the WC SP101 does have some pretty cool potential...

(This one has a more "WC-esque" barrel profile, bead blasted finish and sporting a set Badger boot grips.)

I picked up a standard 3" today instead. Maybe a WC will be in my future...
