.350 Legend Ranch

I have the American Ranch in .350 legend that I just bought for my 8 year old son. I really like the gun but I would like an option for a smaller magazine. Cabelas sells a short action magazine for the Ruger American but I dont know if it would fit. Anybody know of any options out there? Thanks

Buffalo Skinner:

The Ranch in .350 Legend uses the AR15 (modified) style magazines. I believe the 5 round magazine is the smallest available. The regular RAR magazines will not work in the .350. I have the Ranch in .350 and really like it, was a little hard to cock at first but has smoothed out after cocking it a couple of hundred times. Happy New Year!

Take care,
Bob

If the magazine's base plate or the follower are removable you could install a blocker under the follower to limit the magazine to whatever lower capacity you wish.

I use the 5 rounder in mine as I like the way it looks with the rifle. I don't have a need for more than that, 5 rounds is plenty.

I've had pretty good luck chopping off the bottom of 10-rd pmags, wedging in a new sheet metal floorplate and then screwing the old floorplate back on for looks.

Don't have enough posts to add pics yet but I'll come back here when I do.

They're for 5.56, does the 350 work with standard AR mags or do they need a specific one?

I've made 2 of these short mags so far. One will stay a 5-rd and the other I'm going to shorten even more to make a flush-fitting 3-rd.

I tried loading 350 ammo in standard ar mags and the rounds don't sit correctly. The follower and the ribs on the side of the mag are the problems. The mag fits and locks right in, but the rounds won't feed correctly. That's what I experienced anyway.

There is a video out there (Youtube maybe) where a guy removes the ribs so the .350 ammo will fit correctly.

Take care,
Bob

The 350 takes a different mag even though it is still ar style. I am wanting to modify a 5 rounder to 3 rounds so I can achieve a more flush look. Can't get completely flush because of the mag latch. The question is how much spring, if any, will need to be cut and also the angle of the floor. Does the stock angle need to be maintained or can I make it more straight with the mag well. (Plastic stock) on the American ?
