Ruger American Predator OD Green stock....did you paint yours?

Mine has stains on it from the PO. Not sure what it is, but was thinking the stock would look good in camo. Has anyone painted theirs and what kind of paint works best for longevity? Clearcoat on top?

I could have it coated but am wanting to keep this one low budget.

I'm sitting in the stand with an old Savage 110 .270 that I painted about 2 years ago. It was a wooden stock that had warped because it wasn't finished on the inside from the factory. I opened up the barrel channel before painting it. I got three colors of the Camo spray paint from Home Depot. I used Forest Green, Desert Sand, and Earth Brown. With the barrelled action and trigger guard removed I masked off the recoil pad, checkered areas, and sling studs. I put a couple of coats of Forest Green over the entire stock to seal it from the elements. I lightly sprayed some brown and tan on a few areas to add a little color. I then used some cheap foam brushes and pieces of sponge that I had plucked around the edges to make odd shapes. I sprayed the paint onto paper plates so I could dip the foam in. Then I randomly dabbed brown and tan over the exterior. I used the same brand of satin clear after unmasking the checkering and applied two coats. It's not difficult or expensive. You will have plenty of paint to do several rifles, or redo yours if you aren't satisfied or grow bored. It's a fun project.

Looks very nice! I did both my Predator and my ATI Mini14 stock today. Both got black base coats, then two shades of green and a light beige. Same camo paint from my local hardware/feed store.

Pic in next comment....

Randy99CL will become famous soon enough
Montactical makes stencil kits for quite a few amazing camo patterns (videos on youtube) but they aren't cheap. I plan to cut out my own stencils, probably copying some of theirs.

I understand that the Krylon Fusion paint (especially for plastics) is durable on stocks but don't know if they make it in camo colors.
Even WM sells the Rustoleum Camo paint kits.

Thanks NGas! Yeah I used the Rustoleum and it says also works with plastics. So far I am happy with the results. Got three good coats of clearcoat on top. Should be dry and ready to reassemble in about an hour.

Need advice on compatibiity of Konus Konuspro 3-12x50 Zoom Rifle Scope with ruger american predator .308; rings required, suitability to make use of full .308 range, portability and shots in poor light. Interested in comments re\' scope spec but not re\' scope brand. Thanks

Medium rings for height. I have lows on my 44mm objective and it's about 3/16" above the barrel. Mine are Vortex rings.
