New Ruger Precision Rimfire

Picked up a Davidsons exclusive RPR 22LR in Barrett Brown from my LGS today. I had the Leupold VX-2 off an AR and thought I'd put it on to see if it will work for me.

I'll let you know how it shoots.

You will enjoy the RPR 22lr, finally got a chance to get out with mine a couple of days ago, once I got it tuned in I was getting 1 1/4 five shot groups with bulk federal at 100yds. Will have to try some premium ammo and see if I can't shrink that group down.

That's pretty good. Are you shooting over wind flags? I shot rimfire benchrest for many years; you might want to try Eley Match (black box), Lapua Center X and Midas Plus, and Wolf Match Extra/SK Match Plus (it's the same ammo) in your rifle. If the Ruger Precision rifle has a nice match chamber it ought to really shine with one or more of these match ammo.

If you are not shooting over wind flags, you should get some. Doping the wind is the whole game when it comes to precision shooting. Have fun!

Very sharp. Can’t wait for your range reports.

Sorry for the late reply, but have been busy and was unable to do any shooting until today.

I had a 1-2 year old Leupold VX2 3x9 that I put on the RPR 22. First shots were at 20 yards and since I had read about the 30 MOA mount, I aimed at the bottom of the target circle. The first shot hit at the top center of the target. Made adjustments and got it centered on the target.

Moved out to 50 yds and was able to shoot 2 rounds before the rain started. Those two were almost in the same hole.

Was going to take a couple of pics, but that got cancelled by the rain.

Off to the lake for a week to do some fishing and will try again in 10 days.

Nice rifle. It is way more accurate than its price indicates.

I think the quick release mount I had on the scope may be causing a problem. A couple of the 20 yd shots were way off to the right a couple of inches. It couldn't be me.

I may see if I have some other mounts that will work or buy a fixed mount.
