Hawkeye Compact Please

I know theres been threads on it in the past, but I would love for you guys to tell me about your experience with the Hawkeye Compact. I just ordered a CZ 527 in .223 but I was thinking the Compact might be a great walk around/brush gun. Im thinking .308 since I want it for a "Do Everything" gun.

Pictures, accuracy, stories, game taken, etc, I'll take it all.

I didn't have a Hawkeye, but I did have a M77Mk2 RLS. (Ultralight with sights). It was in .243W, with an 18.5 inch pencil barrel

It was a fantastic hunting rifle: easy to carry, reliable, etc.
The accuracy was acceptable for a hunting rifle, but 3 shots in a row was it's max for accuracy. It was easily the loudest hunting rifle I have fired.

In a fit of idiocy, I sold it. (Not a real hunter). I sold it to a guy whom gave it to his wife. She got her first deer with it a month later.

23 years later, I wish I had it back! It was a limited run, and I have only seen one other.....

While I am a Ruger fan and collector, your CZ 527 will be very nice and IMO out shines the Hawkeye Compact in many respects. I think you will enjoy the heck out of it. I have the 223 and the 7.62x39 in the carbines they are awesome.

I hope they will come out with the 18" (actually 18.7") Stainless GSR in the composite stock, that would be a great all around 308. The Winchester Model 70 Compact is also a really nice gun in the 7-08 and 308 chamberings with the 20" barrel, close to the old Ruger walnut Ultralight.

Look forward to hearing how your new stick shoots.

Thanks, I'm excited and looking forward to the CZ. I really wish they made it with a full length stock, but the idea of a short action compact rifle is great for the type of land around here.

If you want a full length Stock then go to Buds guns online and buy either a 223, 308, or other caliber.

I bought a CZ 550fs in 6.5x55. It's one of my favorite rifles I have.

No, I meant I want the Ruger Compact with an additional 1" on the LOP, I like the idea of the short barrel and shortened forend.
