Start with this:

Here is a simple table that shows the results of using a ballistic calculator. This is the trajectory in inches for a typical .22 LR 40 grain, round nose bullet at 1255 fps MV when zeroed at different ranges.

Zero range...Muzzle...25 yards...50 yards...75 yards...100 yards
25 yds...........-1.5..........+/-0...........-0.06........-1.89.........-5.59
50 yds...........-1.5..........-0.01..........+/-0.........-1.80.........-5.47
75 yds...........-1.5..........+0.59.........+1.19.......+/-0..........-3.10
100yds..........-1.5..........+1.38.........+2.76.......+2.33...... ..+/-0

Get some steel targets and blaze away for hours. Great fun.

Be careful where you store your 10-22. When you put them in a dark safe, they tend to multiple when you are not paying attention.

Have fun.
I have two 10/22's right now, and have two more builds I would like to do.

FOLLOW UP! Who would've guessed it, of ALL my handguns, which I enjoyed shooting over the past 30+yrs, that this damn 10/22 that I finally got, is my FAVORITE! And it's not a handgun, nor a 45acp! I wish my Dad would've started me off with a 10/22, instead of his trusty old Rem 511 Scoremaster, MUCH more fun to shoot. Could've been my favorite for the past 50yrs. Well, better late than never.

You made a great decision on the 10/22. The variations are endless! There is a reason they have been been in production since the 60's!

Like donwalk I use iron sights on my rifles. Once upon a time I sighted in at 50 yards, but as I've gotten older I've dialed it back to 30, but all I do is plinking these days. I have a late 70's 10/22 that has been a solid work horse through the years. It's never failed to cycle anything I put through it with the exception of ratshot. I have a second 10/22 I bought in the mid 90's. Just as good a rifle but slightly ammo picky when it comes to lower velocity rounds.
