I recently purchased a 10/22 carbine (Model 1256 Stainless Steel) and it is so enjoyable to be spending only pennies a shot rather than nickles a shot!
As I was reading the user's manual about field disassembly and reassembly of the rifle, I was surprised that no information was provided for how tight the Take Down Screw should be upon reassembly. I searched this forum for that information and found one discussion back in 2013 that made some guesses, but nothing definite.
So, I did what I should have done to begin with, I asked Ruger Customer Service! The official answer is:
"The front takedown screw is to be torqued to 15-20" Lbs"
For those of us with fading eyesight, that is 15-20 INCH lbs
