The 10/22TD is a fabulous little rifle. Mine is accurate, reliable, and just fun to shoot.
I would wait on all the mods until AFTER you have "shot the c*#p out of it". You may find that you don't need to change a thing.
Many times, people mod their guns before they even shoot them; that's when the reliability and fuctioning problems occur. Get a base line with the stock rifle first!
My absolute favorite upgrade for my takedown was the Ace in the Hole peep sights available on the ShopRuger website especially with the 20% discount code you will get from Ruger when you register it with Ruger.
I'm thinking about ordering a 10/22TD through Gallery of Guns. It's $340 total, tax, shipping etc. included from my friend that's my local FFL. I'm thinking about this because I believe it will fit in the underseat 'trunk' area of my Honda Silverwing. Do you have or plan to add some form of optic?
I think you'll really enjoy the 10/22 takedown, I love mine. Along with some others, my suggestion would be to improve the trigger first. Kidd has several options on triggers, and I've done them all. You can get a decent trigger with their drop-in replacement parts for a reasonable price. I have several 10/22s, and shoot some in competition. I found my takedown is not all all finicky about ammo, it shoots a decent group with anything I run through it, much unlike my competition guns.
