Since the SR-22 Rifle is a 10-22 in fancy wrappin', is this the right section for them? I didn't see any posts for them in the Ruger Semi-Auto section, not in a quick search see any here. Anyway, when the SR-22 first came out around 2009, I became interested in them, thought about getting one, then didn't. They were pretty common at gun shows and at local gun shops. About the time I rekindled an interest, they were hardly to be seen. I attended my first gun show since last spring today and there were three new in the box from two dealers. I was advised they are becoming more available now. Price was $475 on tag, but was advised could have for $445. How is availability in other than my area (North Iowa) and how does price compare? What is the general consensus on the rifle overall after approx 5 years. Any input appreciated. Thank you.
I didn't put quick release scope mounts on when I first got mine. It is a 10/22 wrapped and it is held in by the normal 10/22 threaded scope points. So if you hard mount a scope you wave to take it off every time you want to tear down totally and get at the action.
On the plus side it has a great barrel and it is heavy but great part of that is you can really control it doing fast fire.
Troy Armaments makes a lighter and what looks like most awesome 10/22 conversion.
ditto 1958: I'm way ahead of ya my friend. About a year ago I took my early 90's 10-22, ordered from Brownell's a WestOne M1 stock, sight set, and sling and made the 10-22 into one nice looking and shooting gun. Have had a lot of positive comments on it. Had a friend do the same to his after seeing mine. Attached pics are of it and my SS 10-22 that I recently rescoped with a Vortex Crossfire II and Burris rings. Nice rig. Ref the weight of a SR22, they are on the heavier side of most 10-22's or 22's in general, but I like the heft of it. In fact, like my firearms to be that way vs on the lighter side or to light. I'm trying to figure out how to add some weight to the SS 10-22, maybe by adding some weight to the hollow stock. Not a big fan of plastic/alloy style frames for handguns or superlight stocks for rifles. My Stg44 ATI 22, now that's a heavy 22 rifle, but I love it.
Owned one since they first came out. Like all 10/22"s it runs like a watch. Pretty accurate and loves CCI mini mags.Clean it about every 300-400 rds.i Forget what I paid for but it has paid for it self in fun.
