T/C Encore scope mount height

Iíve started having a harder time seeing and shooting with open sights on my T/C Encore Pro Hunter. I decided on using a one piece Talley scope mount. Ordered it from midway after emailing Talley on which mount height I should get. They replied by saying with my scope (Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40) and gun a ďlowĒ mount should work. It hardly clears the barrel or hammer. Iíve never scoped a hammered gun before. Will hammer extension get me the clearance I need? Or do I need to exchange for a taller mount?

On my encore pistol I have about 5/8 clearance between the scope the eyepiece and the hammer. You most likely will benefit from a medium height mount, can you even put a hammer extension on the pro hunter? On my pistol I use a egw scope base with some about 3/8 height rings that came with the scope. Good luck, very fun guns.

I have 5/16 of clearance between the ocular and hammer, the extension makes all the difference.

Yes, you can put an extension on a Pro Hunter hammer, but you'll need to put the hammer in the straight back position. Loosen the bolt on the top of the hammer, then lift it into the straight back position. I've had to do this on a tight fit with the PH hammer because I have a hard time cocking the PH hammer without an extension.

How does your eye line up with the scope? If it is good then put a hammer extension on. I would make the eye to scope alignment work first then work on the hammer problem. For quick game shots and long range shooting the eye-scope alignment and cheek weld are critical. If you mount the scope too high for the stock then you can't get on target fast and with long range you end up picking your head up which leads to poor shooting.
