150 gr 30-06 Accurate Load?

Could anyone share some loads for 30-06 and 150 grain bullets that they have found to be accurate?

I have a load using 168 grain hpbt bullets that is really accurate, but those bullets cost quite a bit more than 150’s do.

This is for target shooting, not hunting. I shoot an M77 Hawkeye.

ditto, two powders I’ve found that work quite well with the .30-06 are IMR4894 and IMR4064. Try 48grs of the 4064 with Hornady’s 150, (#3031), seat at 3.200”. This is a low end load, but has proven to shoot well out of my 700 Rem.

Mark204, that’s actually amazing. I have a powder dispenser set up already for 48 grains of 4064. So, all I need are some boolits

ditto, that data is from Lyman’s 49th edition, min/max 48/53.....I looked back to Lyman’s 46th edition, it shows a min/max of 48/53 too. Now here’s where it gets interesting, the 49th shows 48 as the most accurate load they tested , the 46th shows 53 as the most accurate load....go figure, right? What’s changed, (the exact same bullet though)? Probably different barrel/chamber. FYI, I use the Lyman book for most of my loads......in my experience their most accurate load generally works in mine with some tweaking.

If I were you, this would be my plan for finding an accurate load. I would start at 48gr and load-up in .3gr increments (single loads) l48.3, 48.6, 48.9 and so on. I’d run these up to 53grs and look for a window. This window would be “a group” that is tight regardless of how big the spread is in charge weight......The bigger the spread, the more flexibility you have in change weight, (should you miss it by a tenth or two.

This is my approach to load development, granted I will tweak it, but it’s nice to have a window should you miss it it.

In the pic below, this was my load development for my .25-06, with shots 5, 6, 7, and 8 the span is .9grs, this is my window of accuracy. I can miss the mark a little on my charge and still be confident that the shots are going where I want them to. I looked at the others and thought WTF, (Why The Flyers)....no clue, other than every barrel is different.

Ditto, I am with Mark, those are great powders for the 06. I too use alot of the 155 palma hpbt, and 168 hpbt sierra's that are not easy on the wallet but super submoa accurate. I have a load with a 150 winchester fmj and I believe w760 or varget that does well, however I would have to look at my reloading data recipe book to give exact details. Its been some time since I loaded any of them. Its a round I was using in my m1 garand before I added the gas plug to reduce the gas pressure and shoot heavier bullets. Now only shoot 168's in it with a reduced charge to keep from beating up my 43 garand.

Lyman manual highlights the most accurate load for each bullet.

I have used IMR 4064 powder and 52 grains of that powder for 150 grn Hornady bullets for about 15-20 years. This combination shoots good in my son's 7600. I worked up this load to get near duplication of Remington Core-locs (sp.). This is so that he may buy ammo in a pinch if needed. There may be a more accurate load I could work up ,but this load shoots near 1" groups out of his gun. This load is still under max according to Hornady reloading manual #8. I would think your M-77 would handle this load with no problems as the 7600 Remington pump does.

In my Rock Ridge 1903A4 my go-to 168gr load is about 47 gr of IMR4064 and with a 24" bbl i'm at about 2630 fps. Shoots about 1.6 MOA at 200 yds shooting benchrest with an optic.
