The Fun of Ping and Clang

My buddy and I did lots of target shooting over the last few days. Punching paper is great, but the fun really begins when you're on target and you break out some steel. Hammering the gong with my Glock 22 made my friend smile. Popping the little swinging targets up, then quickly knocking them back down with my Charger had him grinning from ear to ear. He now desperately wants a Charger. The tall grass (I forgot to take my string trimmer to camp) provided an extra challenge!

Shooting steel is fun. It also gives instant feed back.

rickclark28 will become famous soon enough
Nothing better than range and practice time. The instant "smile" description in known by all who shoot. Steel targets give quick feedback that puts a smile from ear to ear.

Mrs Bonk and I spent a couple hours on Wednesday afternoon at our range. Sighted in a couple of 22's and then burned through a bunch of ammo banging and clanging. No one but us and blue skies. Then we took a nap. A perfect day.

That does sound great. My day was truly perfect. My friend and I were up early to enjoy coffee at camp. Then out on my pond at daybreak catching bass. Burned through 100 shells breaking clays with our shotguns. Lunch at a favorite buffet in Fitzgerald, Ga. Long siesta during the hot afternoon. Then finishing up with handguns and rimfire rifle before dinner. Life is good!

I admit shooting has become more addictive since I added a steel plate.

Mine is hanging from a shepherds crook so when shooting .40 S&W the thing gets to bouncing which makes me shoot faster to keep the target moving.

Mag dumps are fun but expensive.

I find that smacking steel is the best way to introduce new shooters is to take them to the short range and let them see things move! My wife is quickly bored by punching paper but will spend the whole day knocking the paddles over on my auto reset target with her 357. We also found some clay holders that meet our range criteria and the ladies really enjoy that, seeing something blow up lol. I am also finding that I enjoy hitting the plates on the long range too. The paper targets are ok, but when you are reaching out a half mile or more, seeing the steel swing is gratifying!

Thanks! We caught several quality fish and a good amount of smaller ones. The big one got away. It powered down to a stump and broke off. My friend's face told the story. As his rod went from bent double to slack line I thought he was going to cry! Instead he said some bad words. We had a great trip.
