Nice pick up............I'm a fan of anything Colt. I do have fondness for Gold Cups though.

A friend of one of my brothers has a pristine Python with a 6 inch barrel. He's let me shoot it a few times and it is indeed a very fine revolver. Accurate and just a thing of beauty. Wish I had the dough to pick one up, but they're just too dang expensive for my budget.
Congrats on your find. It's a keeper for sure.

Just a caution:
I bought a 6" Python about 10 yrs ago that I thought was stainless. I knew nothing about Colts at the time.
About 4 yrs later, I had to send it back to Colt for repair of the cylinder release.
When I got it back, the Colt paperwork indicated this was originally a blue finish gun. I called Colt thinking they had my gun mixed up with another customer's. That is when they told me mine was refinished in "hard chrome". They could not confirm if they did the work unless I paid for a factory letter. I didn't bother then.
It is a beautiful finish and had me fooled. It looks just like SS.
Can you be mad and happy at the same time? I felt cheated yet what I got was a very nice piece.
I don't think I'd have a problem getting back the $800. I paid for it.
Good luck with your new Python!

Congrats on a great find. I bought and sold my blued 4" python for $400 back in '79. Nowadays in California, they run north of $2,000 used.

Good deal on a fine gun. I shoot a friend’s 6” blued Python from time to time and it is the most accurate .357 DA I shoot.
He paid $2000 US Dollars for his and I thought that a steal...you got quite the bargain. Enjoy!

I already have a blued one, bought new in 1996, so a stainless makes for a nice pair |
