S&W Shield 9 vs Sig P239?

I realize this is not a comparison of the same style pistol but I'm evaluating a number of options. Haven't held a P239 so I can't compare both directly but here are my thoughts so far:
Price: Shield
Sights: Sig (night sights)
Trigger: Not sure but the lighter SA of the Sig would be nice
Bore axis: Would have to be the Shield from what I can tell
Felt recoil: Only shot the Shield; no idea on the Sig
Grip width; not sure if I like the thinness of the Shield

Not really looking at either for an EDC; mainly for another small 9mm to go along with my SR9c.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any reason why you're not considering the 938 instead of the 238?
The 938 is just a little larger than the 238 (and I'm talking just a couple mm larger).
While they're both smaller than the Shield, they are both heavier than the Shield, but since you're not looking at it for carry, that's probably not a factor for you. They're also just a bit snappier than shield, but not by much (especially the 238).

Both sigs are great shooters for their size. I like 'em both and if I had the money, I'd have a 938 to keep my other 9mms company.

Do try to find one to shoot before buying... You'll probably like it, but then, only you can decide that.

I put a pachymayer wrap around on my shield .40 & it fills it out great. Don't know about the 239 but I do have a p290 in 9mm. It's small but thick & heavy. Long, mushy da trigger but shoots real nice after getting used to the trigger. It came with night sights as well. They're not real popular & I've seen them as cheap as $300; I paid more for mine which ticks me off a bit.

I never could get used to that looooong trigger pull on the Sig 239. It is so far to the extreme limit of my finger pull that I run out of strength which is causing me to bend my wrist to find strength to actually complete the pull. I hope that you aren't experiencing the same and kidding yourself into believing that you'll get used to it.
