It is a good decent scope , with a 22 LR or 22 mag. it will serve you well .
Optics have improved greatly in the last 10 - 20 years , even the not high dollar scopes are now a lot better than they used to be . Better and cheaper lens are used in the lower cost models . The high dollar scopes have improved but if you are only shooting out to 100 yards you may not can see a big difference in the expensive ones .
If it came with the rifle that makes it free...and free is great .
Leave it on and shoot it...you might just love it.
The two Simmons scopes and two sets of Simmons binoculars I have all work extremely well for me and I would not hesitate to buy another .

Simmons is certainly not top of the line, but they give you good value for the money. If the scope works for its intended purpose, helps you see and hit your target, and holds zero, what more can you ask? If there is a genuine need to upgrade, such as improved light transmission, a better reticle, etc., then go ahead. But if this Simmons is doing the job, upgrading is probably just for bragging rights. A .22 sporter is just for plinking, target shooting, and small game hunting out to maybe 100 yds. It doesn't take a Nightforce scope to do that.

If I were buying a scope I would pass on that one, since it was free it will do the job for a .22.
It is usually suggested to spend as much on optics as you did the gun, this is a $40.00 scope.

Simmons makes a decent scope for a decent price. I have had many on .22 LR. and even one on a 223 AR. They work well. If yours works well I would say you are good to go.
