I found one

A TALO edition Single Six Convertible .22 bird's head and it's a beauty. My crappy pictures are an insult to it but here are a couple. I'll update my "short barrel" collection and my Ruger single action "Family Photo" later and post those on the Let's see your Ruger Single Action's thread.
Meanwhile here it is:

And, here's a shot of it with it's big brother in .45 acp

Playing with the camera again
Some great photos, mate. That's a beautiful bird's head and I really enjoy looking at it. Oh, and BTW, where does one "Down Under" get ahold of Confederate money??? From where did your ancestors originate? :D :D

Great pics Billy! Thanks for sharing. You know, back in the "old days" a sure fire, guarantied way to start a fight in the barracks was for someone to say, "Save your Confederate money, the south will rise again, - - - - - - - - - - - - -".

I refrain from finishing the rude, crude challenge since times have changed and I don't want to turn our beautiful Ruger forum into a donnybrook. And, I'm too old to fight anymore. :D :D

Texas jack, I'm now able to view your "thumb nail" attachment. But, before, no.

Very nice little bird's head family. :)

Finally finished with the Elk grips!
Doug, amigo, those are absolutely superb. Beautiful! Perfect bookends. Not easy to achieve i'm sure. i'm still knocked out with the unbelievable high polish finish on your revolver. You've got a real classic there.

Hate to comment in the picture thread but dang that is a nice looking pistol!

I didn't even know they made original Vaquero in the Sheriff's model.

a couple better pics of some of my antique birdsheads...

this one was like new when I bought it ( it's in much better shape than the pics look... always hard to get good pics of shiny guns ) this one is a Hopkins & Allen chambered for 30 rimfire... long obsolete, so it has some custom made 22 LR chamber inserts with rifled throats ( made from a chunk of 22 barrel ) so even with 1/2" of rifling, it accurately shoots 22 Colibri's, & is a fun gun...

This one is a S&W #1.5 chambered in 32 S&W... Lord only knows when the conversion work was done, but the barrel was shortened, & a wider "coin" front sight installed, & the barrel was re-nickeled... this was done long enough ago, that the patina matches on both the frame & barrel & appears as if in original condition... I love this gun, & even carry it sometimes... I purchased the 70's Gil Scotty grips separately, as well as some surplus nickel S&W medallions, & added them to the gun, to save the perfect original hard rubber grips

This is a S&W #1.5 with a perfect set of S&W "red" grips, with original barrel length

I guess these don't count as birdsheads, but are cool none the less... a looong barrel S&W #2 in 38 S&W, that I added a pair of original S&W MOP grips to... I'm thinking about sending this one to Ford's refinishing to get a high grade blue job, to highlight the grips...

Thanks FRANK...

I've never shot this one, but it does function... being rim fire & bottom break, I'm a bit afraid to try firing it with the replica ammo... maybe if I whack the bullet nose off to drop the weight ???

this one is I think a Belgian bull dog copy in 11-12 mm or 45... again, it functions, but it's action is pretty week...

not Rugers, but are birdsheads

Got some new grips!

First is a set of white grips from Eagle Grips. I thought they might set off nicely on the heavy frame Vaquero in 45 Colt. Some before and after photos for comparison:
Beautiful Wave. They really enhance and add pizazz to two already beautiful revolvers. And, as always, great photos. I'll bet the texture of the checkering, in addition to feeling "right", adds additional "traction" to your grip when shooting that bad boy. :)

Very nice Waveform! I got some new ones too!

I wanted a little thinner and more rounded profile with the wider point in the middle of the palm instead of the bottom like factory black micarta grips, this lets me curl the little finger underneath the backstrap and gives more room between the trigger guard and the knuckle on the middle finger. They are polished to a gloss finish and they let the gun roll up in the hand easy, and they have that "melted" feel like those Uberti grips have. Always liked that about those guns, the grips just melt in your hand.

Hard to get the color to pop out in photos, but there are some purples and grays and cream colors, these came out of the main beam of Moose antler, right in that thick part above the "button" at the bottom.

Holy Snot, Doug! Those are beyond beautiful. They're magnificent. A work of art. If you're ever interested in crafting a set for sale please PM me. I'd be honored to be your first customer. :) And, no. I'm not joking.
