Hi Rugerforum members,

I'm a displaced Hoosier living in the Australian Capitol Territory
of Australia. I can also call Arizona home, which is just as well
because handgun shooting is pretty limited in Australia!

I shoot Service match an informal bullseye match with my
GP-100 and have a SP-101 back in Arizona
(the barrel is too short to be legal in Oz).

Glad to be a member of such a select bunch.

Welcome from Oklahoma via Texas,Upstate NY, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky.

Just how long does an aussie barrel have to be?

Thanks for the welcome...

Ruger is a very popular brand here in Australia.

To answer the question what Rugers are still in circulation here:

No semi-auto rifles for ordinary folks:
The Mini-14 and 10/22 are restricted mostly to pastoralists and security firms.

No pistols with a barrel length of less than 120mm (4 3/4")

No revolvers with a barrel length of less than 100mm (4")

No handguns with a caliber larger than 9mm/.38 - except for the
"approved competitions" of Metallic Silhouette & Cowboy Action.

Handgun ownership is restricted to members of 'approved'
shooting clubs, police, military, security and some pastoralists.

No semi-auto or pump shotguns are allowed to ordinary folks here.
Ruger doesn't make them anyway.

Whoa----sorry to hear that. Did not know about the caliber and barrel restrictions on handguns. Have heard that about the only shotgun alowed was a single shot---not too far from it it appears.
