I have been researching Ruger handguns on several forums, and they directed me here. This site looks like a good place to frequent - the posts are good, and people with differing viewpoints are not slammed.
I'm researching 9MM semi-automatics. I had narrowed the field to P95 just before Xmas, planning to use holiday money for a new purchase. Then, my LGS only carries the P89, and then Ruger discontinues most of the P89 and P95 models.
So now I'm back trying to decide between other brands, SR9, or buying a discontinued P89, or looking harder for a P95. There are some gun shows coming up in the next 1-2 months for used guns. Most of the LGS around here do not have big selections of used handguns. I checked some other GS in IA, but still have not found the elusive P95.
I need to get out to the range soon, but its been below zero lately so that will wait for warmer weather.
Oh, and for you other football fans - I noticed several Pats logos (and they are having a great season) but - GO PACK GO.
Welcome aboard! Glad you're here. Make yourself at home and enjoy the Board. Generally speaking all the Rugers are good, so it will just be a matter of personal choice. Shoot some other caliber beside the 9MM and see if you like them. 9MM ammo is cheaper but the other calibers can be cheapened with reloading. Different people like different calibers same as different guns.
Welcome hasbro fan. Glad you joined up with us. I'm not a auto shucker fan but there are some good semis made by Ruger. Lots of good comments on the SR9. Or there is nothing wrong with saving a couple bucks and picking up a nice 'pre-owned' P-95. My gun shop had one a couple months ago for $350.
I am focusing on a 9mm for lower cost range time. This is not planned for carry, more for practice. I have a 22LR pistol and 357 DA revolver, so this one is more for pistol center fire time. And everything I've heard about Ruger is positive.
Let me know if I can do anything for you up here in IA.
