Hi all, this is Dan. I'm a retired police officer and I'm looking at getting into some competition shooting with IDPA and IPSC. The weapon I have is a P89 and I've read that some folks shoot these in competition, so I thought I'd find a Ruger forum to get some info on these guns and shooting competitions.
Hope to learn a lot from this group.
As for Cali, some now classify it as "Kalifornia" or "Mexifornia", either way, it's the state that's leading the way of taking away all our rights and freedoms! Where else do you have Gun Control, Motorcycle control, Hot Rod control, and Off Road land closers all in one spot?! God bless America, and where ever the heck I'm at!
As for motorcycles, I've ruptured every disk in my low back, so after 40+ years of riding the doc said "NO MORE!", so it's back to shooting, I guess. My dad is in to guns, I always spent my money on motorcycles and guitars, so now that the bikes are gone, guitars and guns!

Welcome HIPCHIP. Too bad about the "no more bikes" situation. In a non-literal sense, I feel your pain (I'd be hard pressed to give up riding). You'll find a lot of other good information here about guns and life.
Howdy Dan'o, spent many a year out there on the left coast. Down in San Diego. Been told I wouldn't recognize or like it anymore. Had a few bikes, some hot rods, and loved the desert and my Rugers. I would probably be heartbroken to go back there and expect the same fun times as I had in the 70s and 80s.
Glad to have you here on the forum, hope to see you post often.
So Cal has definitely changed. Any open land has been turned into houses. From what I understand, the illegal hispanic population is growing like crazy and it's becoming a real problem. Housing prices are through the roof, especially in the San Diego area. All the gang problems and prices are crazy, so I miss MY LA, but I don't miss the way LA is now. The school I went to was about 30% hispanic, and everybody got along. There were never any problems regarding race, now it's just scares me to go down there and I never go anywhere in LA without my off-duty weapon. One of the reasons I've decided to do IDPA and IPSC, as well as joining these forums, is to keep my skills and knowledge up since I'm kind of out of the loop since retiring.
Glad to be here.
