Greetings to all members. I'm obviously new to the forum and wanted to briefly introduce myself (OH JOY you say? )
I'm RETIRED, as in SOME of you are paying my Social Security and for this 'I THANK YOU'! Most kind - most kind indeed!
I spent 'enough' years in the military to convince myself I liked it enough to sign on for a "few more years". Did my time in VietNam - again, when I was I young enough to think being a VOLUNTEER to return there was "the thing to do". Spent the better part of 1965 to 1970 either there or in the hospital. Not life threatening injuries, but bad enough to keep me out of action for a total of about one year. I managed to bluff my way back into the fun and jovial times and wound up back in the hospital again. the second time around - "I learned"! Maybe the civilian life wouldn't be so bad -- but, it was nice always having a place to sack-out and someone to cook chow -- FOR FREE!
I had longed to be a LEO - but, met several guys who seemed to think that 'puttin' out fires' was a pretty exciting way of life. Again, still young enough and in good enough shape to pass the 'movin' about' part - AND SINGLE - so, my vocation was decided.
Finally got married --- then divorced (SHE didn't LIKE THE HOURS). No kids thankfully, so losing her was CHEAP and PAINLESS!
The second time around was a blessing. Married 32 years now --- three kids --- a batch of grand-kids and even a great-grand-daughter; even though she was "an oops" by one grandson and his "non-wife". Can't help but love the little ones though - so she is 100% part of the family, even though her mother tries and resist my constantly asking if she can "come over and play". Mom doesn't resist too much -- it gives her time to go out with her dope-head welfare game playing friends. SO many FLAKES out there now days - and WORK is not a big part of their vocabulary!
Gad - I'm rambling on - so I'm gonna shut up for a few! GLAD there is a place for "Ruger Believers" to hang out and hope to gain and share ideas as I poke around here. GREETINGS TO ALL and PLEASE PARDON ANY "TYPOS and/or "SPELLING ERRORS"!
Hey, you sound like someone I once knew, gone now KIA. Of course that was along time ago.
bought the farm in a "Police Action" not too far from where you spent your time. My buddy was only married once, didn't stay around long enough to find out what it was like to marry twice had a kid a little boy, now grown of course. But anyway welcome hope you like it here!
Welcome John, nice part of the country you are from. Glad you got to see retirement. I share some of your problems. All I can say is we'll getting too old for this stuff. Glad you signedup, hope to hear from you often.
Warmest of welcomes from Connecticut, thank you for your service to our nation and your community, hope you enjoy the fellowship here and are active in the forums, great people and great guns, once again, welcome,
