Dura-Touch Maintenance

Here is a random question on Dura-Touch finished firearms such as used by Browning/Winchester. I was perusing Gunbroker last night and came upon a used shotgun in a configuration I have been looking for. This had a dura-touch finish and in the description, the seller indicated "The Duratouch coating has aged and is sticky." It got me thinking because I currently have three shotguns with a duratouch finish. Is this something that I have to look forward to and is a normal aging process for the finish, or did the previous owner use something on the finish that is causing the finish to get sticky, and if so, any idea what that might be?

Yes , it's something you have to look forward too .
Browning is aware of the problem... the manufacturer's (Dura-Touch) claims and advertising hype didn't meet long term expectations .
You might want to call Browning about the problem .
A Mississippi man has filed a proposed Class Action Lawsuit , if you are into class action settling of things .
The finish turns sticky with age...nothing applied makes it turn sticky .
I can't see Browning not refinishing the stocks or offer a amount to people who wish to refinish or have refinished their own stocks .

I did some further reading and it looks like Browning may be trying to weasel out of fixing the problem. Evidently it's going to take a class action lawsuit and years in the courts to get settled .
That's a shame ...I thought browning was a honorable company...guess I'm wrong.
Good luck with the sticky stock situation .

Call Browning and talk to them , nicely...don't be ugly , I have also read of individuals returning their guns and getting the stock refinished or replaced ... all may not be lost !

Planetcat is on a distinguished road
I just sprayed my sticky camo winchester shotgun stock with krylon matte clear spray and it worked like a charm.

Anyone know when they stopped offering the dura touch finish?
