Running ia a new barrel.

Hi guys. Last week I purchased myself a Ruger Precision Rimfire in 22lr.
I am taking it up to the range for the first time tomorrow.
As its my first brand new rifle I have never run in a barrel before.
I was just wondering if there is anything special I should do?
ADufty.

I would run a patch down the bore to insure that there's no debris from manufacturing left in there. I always field strip all new guns, clean and lube, and then go shooting.

Terry said it all. Clean it, lube the bolt, and go have fun. Enjoy shooting your new rifle.

Clean , lube and shoot... no running is required !

Bring a few different brands of ammo , 22's are sometimes picky about what they like.

Have fun !

Agree with the above...

My RPRR 22LR sometimes has a lil resistance while closing the bolt & chambering a round. It's the mag not being seated properly. If you are using a 15rd mag it needs to be slightly pulled rearward to level out the mag with the bolt. Sometimes occurs with a 10rd mag. There are some YT videos of folks having issues with this and their "fixes"...

The bolt will also loosen up after use, but lube helps a lot. The rifle is a good shooter, just figure out the flavor of ammo that it likes. Mine prefers Gemtech 42gr subs.

Thanks for the input guys.
I gave the rifle and bolt a good rub down with some G96 on a rag and cleaned the bore with some G96 on a bore snake.
I have about 8 different type of ammo to test, a mixture of high and standard velocity.
