I did my 45lc man with no name revolver its blued, and did the roll marks in white, I also did my smith and wesson model 29, its also blued and did the roll markings white as well, they turned out better than I expected, I used non acetone nail polish remover, and gave them a custom look. Will try to post some pictures. Good news is that the color fill is not permanant, and with a little work, and it can be undone with the same remover.
I color filled my M&P rifle but that's about it. It looks ok. I debated doing my Glock but, I'll likely only fill the caliber in on the mags so I can easily tell the 9mm from the .40 cal.
I don't know what method or type of color others used, but I filled in the logo on my H&K by rubbing the lacquer stik's across it & then took a credit card's flat edge & a cloth & simply wiped across it to scrape up the excess. The surface color is removed & the color inside the logo is left behind.
I have to disagree, the Sr9 isn't what I would call a looker, now some think the p series was ugly, but not in my eyes. The glock isn't a beauty either, but its not as terrible as a highpoint. As for beauty, it was said that its in the eyes of the beholder, so I guess its up too what the individual likes, I like some of mine with a little extra detail, some I don't. I do agree most Smiths aren't appealing to me, thats why I own the only ones that do, the 27, 29 wheel guns, they are iconic lookers.
Thanks folks! I like it. I think an all black with a red "Ruger" would look nice. The SR9C is really faint as in hardly there. But the Ruger part would be good.
My single foray into tweaked roll marks was when I had too much time on my hands with a backordered Spikes Tactical AR pistol lower as it occurred to me that real Spikes Spiders were red spiders. How-to's on Youtube were easy to find, but the Benjamin Franklin words of wisdom kept rising to the surface - "The Bitterness of Poor Quality Remains Long After the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten."
Several examples of fugly kludged permanent fails convinced me that my artistic skills were not up to the task, to wit one where the unfortunate kludger was admonished "If anyone asks what the red smears are just tell them your lawyer advised you not to speak about it." I opted for Spike's professional in-house pre-shipping logo and selector marks color fill for the grand total of $15.00 the result of which is seen below.
The skillfully applied enamel fill has held up well for several years now but after the fact I seriously doubt that I would ever again color-fill a working firearm.
