Ok , I got to thinking when I came back from shooting today how many magazines do you have for each weapon you have? Hmmm well I know I have atleast 15 20 to 30 rd mags for my 3 AR-15's, atleast 4 for every pistol I own, and a minimum 4 to 6 for every rifle I own. So whatcha thinks guys how many do you feel is satisfactory?
Same neighborhood for me. Usually 4-5. I kind of backed into the number by deciding how many rounds I wanted to shoot at the range. We have a time limit so I always have the mags loaded. That's for handguns. For the AR I just want volume for the apocalypse.
Well, let's see...
I have 4-30 round mags for my AR-15. 2-6 round mags for my Kel-Tec P3AT, 1-10 round and 1-17 round mag that came with my SR9c, 4-25 round mags for my 10-22, and 2 speed loaders for my GP100. Also added the extended mag tube for my Remington 870 so now I can shove 7 rounds into that.
That should be enough ammo capacity (although I do subscribe to the notion that more is better, I'd rather spend my extra money on more guns rather than more mags for the guns I already have).
Sigpro 2340 - have 12 mags (LEO sold them for pennies when the dept changed weapons )
P90 - have 6 mags
P95 - have 2 mags
Kimber 10mm - have 3 mags
Rifles:
AR- have 6 30 rd mags
Mini-Thirty - have 4 20rd mags
FAL/RRA/RFB - have 12 20rd mags
10/22 - have 2 10rd and 2 30rd mags
Garand - have about 40 clips
I have 2 fifteen round and 3 ten round mags for my Ruger P95 DC,
Five fourteen round mags for my Browning Pro 40,
and six 15 round mags for mt Taurus PT99.
I'm a pistol guy but I do have a Ruger 10/22. I have just two magazines for it that are nearly 40 years old. One came with the gun and one I bought. They both work fine but I just bought two more for when I go shooting with the grand kids. That way, they can be loading their magazines while another one shoots.
Given the comments above, I am now feeling inadequate. I guess I'll just have to buy a semi-auto so I can get lots of magazines. (Now if they would just add the SR1911 to the California "safe" gun list I'd be at the store right now.)
2 10 round and 2 17 round for my 9mm SR9C.
However, in my home state (MD) this is probably going away, as, the legislators here deem armed citizens under the 2nd Admendment a threat. So, I suppose in a year or two, the magazines will be restircted to 4 or less rounds as the legislators figure less rounds less "threat"
Gosh, I can't wait to vacate this reiduclous state!
starting with Rugers 'cause this is a forum for them 7 for SR1911 because well just because its a 1911 and some matches need lots, 6 for 22/45, 4 ten rnd factory and one 25 rnd Shooter's Ridge for 10/22, 5 for BHP, 5 for XD
For the SR9c and SR40c I have only the 2 mags that it came with from the factory. I plan to buy maybe 2-3 more of the larger mags for each at some point. For my XDm9 I caught a Father's Day sale and picked up 4 more (total of 6 now) for dirt cheap.
I have only a few semi autos left but even when I had quite a few 4 per firearm was as many as I kept. If a gun had more I usually sold the excess number.
I have about 5 per gun. I make sure I have three and then bargain hunt for others. I have some drum mags and extra capacity stick mags, but don't count them because they are impractical and more or less novelties that I couldn't resist. Some things I just have to try out, even if I know the outcome.
8 mags for my 1911's.
4 each for every thing else.
